Welp, Winter Cottage is seriously making me crave some winter weather! Christine joining you today for some winter play! This fun winter collection combines all the expected winter elements with unique patterns and colors. Now I just need some more snow pictures so I can play even more! For today's layout I pulled out some pictures from 2018 and gave this collection a workout!
While I love all of Simple Stories products, I definitely am drawn to the chipboard frames and the Tags papers in pretty much every collection. I even tried to NOT use the tags this time, but...you've gotta go with what you love! So they ended up being the star of my background! I layered them around the outside of a 9 inch circle and created a unique graphic look that sort of has a patchwork feel. I will link you to the video at the end of this post so you can see exactly how it came together!
Chipboard is another staple for me in most of my Simple Stories layouts and this was no exception. I used chipboard trees and chipboard words and chipboard snowflakes (with gorgeous gold foil!!!)
As I mentioned earlier, there are some unique colors in this collection including a lighter pink and lighter green that you don't typically associate with winter. They really make this collection stand out!
I liked so many of the Chipboard Frames in this collection that I literally couldn't settle for one. So I used the red dotted one and then layered another one on the bottom - I really wanted to make use of the snow scene with houses and trees. Needless to say it has some serious dimension and I had to add some strong adhesive to hold it together! Then I went even further and added "BRRRR" from the chipboard set on top of the two frames. Taking the frames even further, I extended the trees out by adding Bits & Pieces and trees from the Sticker Book.
If you are looking for a unique winter collection that still has a lot of familiar elements, this is the collection for you. You can see how the whole layout came together over on my YouTube Channel.
