Hello friends! Welcome to 2024! And welcome to winter! Tya (@tyasmith3) here today, and I am so happy to be able to share my latest batch of handmade cards with you! This time around I got the pleasure of using the too cute “Winter Wonder” collection. This adorable collection is full of all the fun winter patterns and icons like snowmen, snowflakes, cozy winter clothes, and beautiful wintery florals! I had such a fun time creating these 7 cards and I’d love to show them to you now!
I like to mix it up sometimes and use a square-shaped card base like I did on a couple of cards here. I always love to use all sorts of ephemera, stickers and chipboard to add lots of dimension and interest to my creations. And of course, it wouldn’t be a “Tya” card if it didn’t include a doily! I LOVE using doilies as a base to add all my embellishments on top of. Something about the scallop edge makes me feel like the card is complete!
I really liked this card design! I like to use this type with the 4 squares on the card base. It makes it easy for me to use lots of embellishments and ephemera when I can’t decide on just one! The blocks are backed with 4 different colors of Color Vibe Cardstock and I love that the cardstock matches perfectly with the collection!
One design aspect that I have loved lately is adding lots of texture to my cards. Here you can see how the cute tulle ribbon and bakers twine add lots of interest to the card. And how cute is that little polar bear in the center?! I adore all the winter animals that are scattered here and there throughout the collection!
Aren’t the florals in the collection so beautiful? I couldn’t help but add a spray of pink roses and pretty greenery to this adorable snowman! You can almost feel how cold he is as he says “brrrrrr!”
I had fun layering up some of the ephemera and stickers in the collection on this cute banner card that is from the 3x4 Elements paper. This size is perfect for card making and I use them often as great bases for layering! How pretty is the pink ribbon on the beautiful navy “Snow Happy” paper? Stunning!!
Another paper I used often when creating my cards, is the Journal Elements papers. The cute Snow day checklist card is from that paper and I fancied it up a bit with some of the smallest Glitter Enamel Dots. And I forgot to mention, I added some additional sparkle to all of my cards using some Stickles. Snowy scenes just call for glitter I think!
My final card again features that beautiful tulle ribbon that I added to the top of a rosette I made from the Indigo Color Vibe cardstock. I had a pretty little snowflake ornament leftover from my holiday decorations and so I added that to my card for even MORE dimension! Ha-ha! Never can have enough! More lovely florals and this adorable snowman from the Journal Bits and Pieces is waving hello! He fits perfectly on this card!
It was such a joy to work with such a beautiful collection such as Winter Wonder! I am one of the weird ones who actually enjoy winter so this collection was right up my alley and I was so inspired to create! I love it when a collection just “speaks” to you, ya know?
Thank you so much for stopping by the Simple Stories blog today! I hope you were inspired by these cards and will stop by again soon for more handmade card inspiration! Have a wonderful day and Happy Crafting!
