Hello Crafty friends! Today I wanted to share a layout using the fabulous Summer Lovin’ collection. I was inspired by the icons in this collection and wanted to create a parasol on my layout. I decided to make it look like the underside of the parasol was on the page.
I started by drawing a 9 inch circle on some scrap cardstock and segmenting it into eight. I incorporated a ‘flap’ at the edge and cut one segment out as a template. Using two of the papers from the 6x8 paper pack, I cut out eight segments and then created a fold on each to show the separation between the segment and the flap.
Before adhering the segments to the page, I drew a circle directly onto my white cardstock so that I could add some hazy blue ink smudges and splatters to represent the sky that would appear behind the parasol.
Once all segments were stuck to the page (flat in the centre and raised on foam toward the edges), I started to embellish using various Bits & Pieces including the original inspiration parasol, brads, chipboard stickers and foam stickers. My photo was also mounted on foam and the title added above and below to create a balanced central finish.
I hope it inspires you to be inspired by the collection you have and not just by the photo you are working with. You can see my full process video here where I show how I created my template: https://youtu.be/ZBtygyQxW6E
Thanks for looking, Vicki x
