There are some memories that just feel like home, and these photos of some of my favorite kids together are exactly that kind of memory. I wanted to create a page that felt warm, cozy, and full of the things I love about fall, so the Pumpkins & Plaid collection was the perfect choice.
I started with the deep burgundy polka dot paper as my background. I love how the darker pattern makes all of the layers and embellishments stand out while still giving the page that cozy fall feeling. I layered several patterned papers behind my photos, including the orange floral paper and a coordinating striped pattern. Mixing the patterns helped create a frame around the photos and added plenty of texture without making the page feel too busy.
I printed two photos at 3” x 4” and stacked them vertically on the left side of the page. This gave me a nice place to showcase several photos while leaving plenty of room for the title and embellishments. I love how the photos tell a little story on their own, the kids together, smiling and being themselves.
For the right side of the layout, I created a large embellishment cluster around one of the collection's pumpkin journaling pieces. The pumpkins, florals, leaves, and berries made the perfect fall-inspired frame. I added the FAMILY title right across the middle of the cluster to make it the focal point of the page. The colorful letters coordinate beautifully with the pumpkins and patterned papers and really help the title pop.
I also tucked in a few smaller details, including the hearts, “so grateful” phrase, buttons, twine, and tiny leaf accents. Those little embellishments are some of my favorite parts of the page because they give your eye lots of fun details to discover.
At the bottom of the photo cluster, I added another embellishment grouping with a pumpkin, flowers, hearts, and the “Gather Together” phrase. It helps balance the larger cluster on the opposite side of the page and draws your eye around the entire layout.
One of my favorite things about Pumpkins & Plaid is that it works for so much more than traditional fall photos. The collection has plenty of pumpkins, leaves, and autumn details, but the beautiful colors and versatile patterns make it easy to use for everyday family memories, too.
This page is really about one simple thing: family and these cute kids spending the day together at Grandma’s house. These are the moments I never want to forget, the kids being together, laughing, and making memories. And when I look back at this page years from now, I hope I remember not only the photos, but how grateful I was to have these little moments together.
Sometimes the simplest memories are the ones worth celebrating the most.
