Hi everyone, this is Niki Rowland (@nikiclairecreates) here today and I have my first layout to share for Simple Stories! I'm so happy to have joined the team. I am using the Happily Ever After collection which is wedding themed. I'm going back in time and scrapbooking a photo from my own wedding which was over 10 years ago! I usually scrap my most recent photos so this is a bit of a change for me but it was wonderful to get this photo scrapped. I have also made a process video for this layout which can be viewed at the end of this post.
I began by selecting a background. I loved the dark paper with small colored hearts all over it. I trimmed it down, distressed the edges and added it to a white card background so it had a border. I added a few white paint splatters too. I then fussy cut lots of tags from the tags paper, distressed the edges, punched holes and machine stitched around each one. I tied twine through each one, tying some into bows while leaving others as small knots. I also added machine stitching around the outside edge of my layout.
I arranged the tags in a horizontal design across my layout and added my photo to the right side. I mounted my photo onto a journaling card and also added one of the beautiful chipboard frames over the top of the subjects in my photo - I love how this looks as it totally draws the attention to the photo.
I added the word 'Love' from the Chipboard Stickers and the word 'story' from the Foam Stickers to make the title 'Love story'. I tucked in some flowers from the Bits & Pieces pack as well as a camera from the same pack. I also added gold hearts, also from the Bits & Pieces pack - I raised these on foam pads to give them extra dimension. I also added a gold heart from the Foam Stickers. I love the gold accents that run throughout this collection and really can't get enough of them!
I finished off this layout with a few label stickers from the Cardstock Stickers and I handwrote my journaling onto one of the tags. Here’s another look at the finished layout:
Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing this collection and like my layout. I have made a process video for this layout which can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/QcWbOLlGKoM
Happy scrapping!
Niki xx
