Land of the Free
Happy Fourth of July! Ali, @funadventureswithali, celebrating the holiday with the beautiful new Simple Vintage Land of the Free collection. What a fantastic way to document photos from such a memorable celebration with my friends, Anne and Katie!
We spent the evening at Blu, the rooftop bar at the Pfister Hotel, where we reserved a window table to enjoy appetizers, desserts, and champagne while watching the spectacular fireworks display over Lake Michigan.
For my layout, I created a large American flag background using two patterned papers—one featuring blue stars and the other red and white stripes. I pieced the papers together and added hand stitching to give the flag extra texture and detail. To embellish the blue star section, I tucked in floral elements and added fireworks with foam adhesive so they would pop right off the page.
I included two photos in the upper left corner and was excited to use the large title as a focal point in the bottom right. The small journaling sticker that reads "Fireworks, Friends, and Fun" perfectly captures the spirit of the evening. I placed it above the title and layered stars and stripes under the big title for added interest.
The ephemera packs are filled with adorable stars and hearts, so I created three embellishment clusters throughout the layout. Using mini foam squares, I popped them up against my white polka dot border to add dimension and visual movement.
