Happy holidays friends! I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful time of year and all of the happiness it can bring. Speaking of happiness, today’s project documents a gift I recently received from a sweet friend. Being a part of the Simple Stories team is a dream come true and the people I’ve met along the way are the best. With that in mind, I knew I wanted to use the Make It Merry Collection to record my receiving this sweet gift.
This collection has so many adorable patterned papers that I had a difficult time deciding which of them to use. Since I couldn’t make a choice, I used a bit of each … in the title.
To begin, I cut 14 different pieces of patterned paper that measured 3-inches tall by 2-inches wide. After placing the papers on a Silhouette mat, I sized the Merry Christmas Title digital die cut (Silhouette #30846) to fit across a 12 x 12 background and cut it out twice. The first was with the patterned papers and the second was using red paper from the Color Vibe Textured Cardstock Kit – Brights to create a shadow behind the title.
After cutting out the title, I adhered it to the background paper using foam strips to elevate it off of the page. Around the title, I used several foam and chipboard sticker elements to embellish it.
Below the title are two photos backed with the same red Color Vibe cardstock and attached to the layout with washi tape. Atop the photo on the right are die cuts and a stamped sentiment.
Each of the photos that sit below the title open from the center outward to reveal more photos and my journaling. It is always fun to add interactive elements to projects, which also allows for more photos to be included.
Inside the interactive photo element, I added several more die cuts, stickers, and decorative brads.
This layout was so fun to create and documents a snippet of my experience being a member of the Simple Stories Design Team.
Thank you for stopping by today, and I hope you’ve been inspired to document those special people in your life!
