There’s something so satisfying about taking one design and stretching it into something totally unique — and that’s exactly what I set out to do with this layout! I was inspired by the Right Now! scallop pattern paper and decided to turn it into the star of the show. Instead of using the paper as-is, I grabbed my scissors and fussy cut every single scallop. It took a little time, but it was absolutely worth it! This technique allowed me to create a fun, layered background full of movement and color. I arranged the scallops in horizontal rows across my white cardstock, mixing and matching all the gorgeous shades from the collection with a few pops of black for contrast. You can also spot scallops from the bits and pieces and chipboard mixed in there.
For my focal point, I chose this adorable AI photo of my dog riding a pink scooter — how could I not? It just screams “happy & carefree,” which made it the perfect match for this collection. I layered the photo with pieces from the journaling bits and pieces, chipboard pieces and tags and labels tucked behind for extra dimension.
The title came together using a mix of foam stickers, cardstock pieces and a brad. I love how “HAPPY & CAREFREE” really pops against all that color! It ties the whole page together and reinforces that joyful, playful vibe.
To finish things off, I added a cluster of embellishments around the photo — florals, hearts, phrases, and another brad for texture. I kept most of the embellishing centered so the scalloped background could really shine without feeling too busy.
This layout is a great reminder that you don’t always have to use patterned paper in the way it was intended. A little fussy cutting can go a long way in creating something truly special and custom!
