Good Vibes

Good Vibes

Hello crafters! It’s Celes here @guiademanualidades and I’m so excited to welcome you back to the blog with a fresh new project for the summer season!  As soon as I saw the Sunny Days collection by Simple Stories, I knew it was the perfect match for one of my favorite vacation memories. The photo I used was taken on a warm, sunny day in Jamaica, while enjoying the sea with Sebas—just the two of us, the waves, and that cozy water I still dream about! This layout, called “Good Vibes”, is filled with fun textures, bright colors, and playful details that perfectly capture the energy and happiness of that moment. And today, I’m so happy to share it with you here!

The color palette and playful details in this collection were just perfect for so many of the photos I brought back from this trip. But without a doubt, this was the one I loved the most—it captured the feeling of the moment so beautifully. I wanted to create a design full of color and lots of dimension, and that’s how the idea of using rolled paper as the heart of the composition came to life. It brings movement, texture, and a fun, layered look that makes the whole layout pop with “good vibes”!
Layout Base:
I started by choosing the colorful polka dot patterned paper as the base for my layout. On top of that, I added a 12x12 sheet of textured white cardstock to create a clean and bright background.
One of my favorite details to add is a stitched border, and of course, I couldn’t skip it this time!
Then, I used gold watercolor to add a soft splash of color on the white cardstock. A fan brush works perfectly for this technique—it spreads the pigment beautifully and gives a light, airy texture.
For the central design, I decided to create paper rolls to add volume and movement. I cut the strips in the following widths: 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/4", 2 1/2", and 4", all with a height of 2 3/4".
Once all the rolls were made, I arranged and glued them across the center of the layout, mixing the sizes to create an eye-catching and colorful base for the rest of the composition.

Now it was time to bring the whole layout to life with some decorative magic!  I selected a fun mix of embellishments from the collection—sweet little icons, florals, and summer-themed pieces—that added pops of color and texture in just the right places. Every detail was chosen to enhance the design without taking attention away from the photo, which is still the heart of the page.

Decorative details:
For the title, I chose a large piece from the foam sticker set and combined it with a smaller sentiment from the chipboard sticker set to complete the phrase.
The photo I used is a horizontal 4 1/2" x 3 1/2", and I mounted it on a piece of textured white cardstock to help it stand out.
Then, using various pieces from the embellishment sets in the collection, I created small clusters of elements in different areas—some on top of the paper roll section and others in the top left corner of the layout.
I used 3D foam adhesive for a few of the pieces to add dimension, while others were glued flat directly onto the layout base or over the rolled papers.
To finish everything off, I added colorful foam dots from the foam sticker set... and I have to say, I absolutely love how it all came together!

And that’s a wrap! I hope this layout filled with color, texture, and happy memories inspires you to tell your own stories in creative ways. I loved putting it together and sharing each little detail with you. Thank you so much for being here—your support means the world to me. Can’t wait to craft together again soon! Big hugs!  Celes
