Fun Times Layout By Andrea Lake
Hi, friends! Andrea here and I’m so excited to share a colorful and cheerful layout that captures a fun family moment at an arcade in Vegas. This memory is extra special—it’s from New Year’s 2019 (yes, right before the pandemic!). For this page, I used the vibrant Fun Times collection by Simple Stories, which perfectly matches the playful energy of the photo and event.
This layout is full of dimension, with layers of embellishments that add so much texture and personality. For the background, I combined several patterned papers: the bold teal stars paper in the center, framed by strips of yellow, red, and multicolor prints. The mix of patterns feels lively and perfectly suits an arcade theme.
To add extra detail and character, I used machine stitching across the blue paper—it’s such a simple step but makes the whole design pop.
The photo highlights my husband and son, Adam, who had just won a giant stuffed animal at the arcade—his favorite to this day! Capturing that joyful expression and moment was a must for this layout.
For the title, I used the “Fun Times” piece from the Page Pieces pack. Around the photo, I created a playful cluster with Bits & Pieces, Big Bits, and chipboard stickers, layering them to frame and elevate the focal point.
One of the 6x4 cards from the Elements paper was fussy cut and used as a journaling spot. I added a few smaller clusters—like the balloon accents at the top right and layered ticket pieces—to balance the layout and guide the eye across the page.
This layout came together quickly (minus the stitching part, of course!), and I love how the vibrant colors and elements from this collection worked so effortlessly together.
