Hey friends! Brianna Lepper here today sharing a new layout using the amazing Summer Lovin' collection! Summer is my favorite season and I am so ready for it. This collection has the perfect embellishments to document all of your favorite summertime memories! Here's my layout, don't forget to check out the process video I have linked down at the end of this post:
I really enjoy making shaker elements on my pages and I was super inspired to create one using the Chipboard Frames. I chose the one that had two frames connected so that I could create a shaker in one and layer my photos on the other. To create the shaker, I trimmed and adhered a piece of acetate to the back of the left frame to create my window. I then took narrow foam strips and applied them down around the perimeter of the frame (still working on the backside) to create a place for my sequin mix to sit. I removed the backing from all of the foam strips and carefully spooned in my sequin mix into the shaker. To seal it up, I took a piece of vellum that was large enough to back my shaker and pressed it firmly down on the foam strips. If you want to seal it even more, feel free to add some liquid adhesive to your foam strips before placing the vellum down. Then, trim off any excess vellum, turn your shaker over and voila! Super simple shaker!
I love creating simple mixed media backgrounds using stencils and ink pads. I took the Retro Daisy stencil from the collection and ink blended through it with Distress Oxide inks in blue tones. My photo is of my son at the beach in Hawaii and I wanted those blue hues to match the gorgeous water and sky in the photo. I trimmed the white cardstock and adhered it to the Simply Paradise 12x12 patterned paper to create a fun border and to also add another pop of that blue. When you back your shaker elements with vellum you still get to see what's behind it whether it's a mixed media background or patterned paper. I love that!
I matted my photo using a few of the 6x8 patterned papers and layered them up on the right frame. I made sure to add some foam tape behind them to ensure all of my layers were even and supported. I am loving how colorful this page is!
I chose one of the Foam Stickers phrases as my title and adhered it down right under the frames. It nestled perfectly in that space.
To create my embellishment clusters, I pulled out the Bits + Pieces, Puffy Stickers, Sticker Book and Decorative Brads. I added some twine to a few of the little tags and created a cluster to the left frame. I love tucking and layering, it's my favorite part of creating. What's yours?
Here's one last shot of this super fun layout! I wish I was at the beach right now!
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope that I've inspired you in some way! Do you like to create shakers? They are so fun and simple and I hope that you give it a go. The chipboard frames are a perfect product to get you started! See you in my next post friends!
