Fresh Air

Fresh Air

Hello scrappy friends!

There's just something about documenting summer memories that makes me happy. Sunshine, beach days, salty air, and colorful photos always make me want to create bright and cheerful layouts. Today I'm using the beautiful new Sand & Sea collection from Simple Stories, and I have to say, I absolutely fell in love with it. The combination of blues and reds isn't something I usually reach for, but these colors work so beautifully together that I couldn't wait to start creating!

The first thing I did was choose my background. Most of the time I prefer working on plain white cardstock, especially when I'm planning to add lots of patterned papers and embellishments. But the moment I saw this adorable beach-themed background paper, I knew it had to be the base of my layout. It creates such a fun summer atmosphere.

Next, I picked the red polka-dot paper, which immediately caught my eye. I thought it would create the perfect contrast against the blue background, so I decided to build my design around it. I cut nine circles to create a simple grid design and distressed all of their edges for a softer, more textured look. To help them stand out even more, I backed each circle with white cardstock, leaving a small white border before distressing those edges as well.

For my photo, I layered four different patterned papers from the 6x8 Paper Pad, distressing the edges of each one before placing the photo in the lower left corner of the page. I really like how this balances the circle design while still allowing the beautiful background paper to show through.

The title came together very easily. I chose the "Fresh Air" foam sticker.

Now for my favorite part—the embellishing! I had so much fun digging through all the Bits & Pieces, chipboard, and other embellishments, deciding which ones would fit inside each circle. I mixed shells, florals, beach icons, and other little details throughout the design, using a combination of liquid adhesive and foam tape to create different levels of dimension. Those popped-up embellishments really bring the layout to life and make the circles feel full of little summer treasures.

To finish everything off, I added a few final details and stepped back to admire the finished page. I love how playful and bright it turned out, and it makes me smile every time I look at it. It's the perfect reminder of carefree summer days by the water.

I hope this layout inspires you to pull out your favorite vacation photos and start documenting those sunny memories. Thanks so much for visiting the blog today, and I'll be back soon with another project to share. Happy scrapping!
