Hi crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on the Simple Stories blog today to share with you a leaf-shaped mini album that I created using the new Lakeside collection.
This collection is all about nature and exploring the outdoors. I created this leaf-shaped mini using a cut file from Paige Evans and documented photos of my brother, brother-in-law, and nephew's adventures in it.
To create the base of this album, I cut four leaves that measured about five inches in width using my Cricut machine. I cut both the top and bottom layers of this cut file from papers from the 12 x 12 Basics Kit. I love the contrast between the light green and dark brown shades. After assembling the pieces together using a light adhesive, I machine stitched through the entire leaf shape to permanently hold them together; I also love the texture that this brings to the album. I did this for all four of my leaves and then, to hide the back stitching, I cut four more pieces from the "Explore and Discover" patterned paper to back all of my leaves and give my pages a cleaner appearance.
To create a few more pages for this album, I used two frames from the Chipboard Frames pack and backed them with papers from the 6 x 8 Paper Pad after adding photos to them. I also used a 3 x 4 cut apart from the collection for an extra page.
Throughout the entire album, I added small 2 x 3-inch photos. Once all of my photos were in place, I moved on to the best part of making any project--the embellishing!
I used a mix of products throughout this album. I loved the larger titles from the Foam Stickers and added quite a few of them to the pages. I also loved the wildlife icons in this collection, especially the butterflies and dragonflies, so I made sure to include as many of those as possible.
The Bits & Pieces and Nature Bits die cut packs were full of images of leaves, so I used a lot of these to create an overgrown look throughout this mini.
I used a few of the Decorative Brads here and there, along with the Chipboard and Cardstock Stickers to add some finishing touches.
The final step was to bind this album together using a white 1.25-inch binder ring. I added eyelets to each page to ensure the longevity of this album.
Lastly, I added some paper tassels and a dragonfly charm to the binder ring.
