Hey friends! Brianna Lepper here today and I’m so excited to share my first layout for Simple Stories using the absolutely gorgeous Celebrate! collection. I even have a process video at the end of this post so if you love seeing how layouts come together, I hope you’ll check it out!
I wanted to create a fun mixed media background using the Confetti stencil from this collection. I thought it would be neat to add some sparkle, so I took my Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone and applied it through the stencil. Extra sparkle on a celebration page? Yes, please! I love to add color on top of paste, so I took out a few matching Distress Oxide inks from my stash. I smushed each one on my glass mat, added water to each color and painted my background. I let the colors run and blend and added splatters here and there. A lot of it ends up getting covered up, but I really wanted a little something to peek out from under my papers and embellishment clusters.
I set my background aside to dry and pulled out the Way To Go 12x12 patterned paper and trimmed out a triangular piece. I pierced some holes on the edge and stitched some mint colored thread through. I like the extra texture and interest it gives my page! I popped the piece up on foam tape and layered the Party Time 12x12 patterned paper underneath it. I adhered it to the top of the page and then created a smaller version and adhered those pieces at the bottom of the page.
Next, I matted my two photos using the 6x8 paper pad and arranged them in a fun way. I don't always put multiple photos on a page, so this was fun to do! I chose a phrase sticker from the Chipboard Stickers pack for my title and it fit perfectly between the photos and the two triangle pieces. These photos are of my son eating his cake at his 1st Birthday Party. So, to continue with the cake theme, I added a cute cake from the Bits + Pieces pack. I added a pink brad, a few stickers from the Sticker Book and some Enamel Dots.
I went through the Journal Bits pack and found this adorable banner to layer next to my title. I pulled out a blue “1” from the Number Bits pack and adhered it down to the banner. I then added in some fussy cut floral pieces from one of the 6x8 papers. I also included a decorative brad and some foam star stickers.
I created a third cluster at the top of one of the photos by adding in some of the fussy cut florals, a few chipboard stars and some stickers from the sticker book.
Here's one more look of this fun layout!
Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Do you have some special photos that you'd like to document with this great collection? The colors are amazing and perfect for all of those celebratory moments! See you in my next post friends!
