Hello Simple Stories friends!
It's Sophie Delorme on the blog today, sharing a new layout created with the lovely Simple Vintage Old-Fashioned Christmas collection!

I wanted to make a fun Christmas tree using many of the patterned papers from the collection.
I started by cutting several 1/2" x 3" strips from the patterned papers. On the inner part of each strip, I cut two horizontal lines with a craft knife. Then I bent the strip and glued the two ends together to form a teardrop shape.

Next, I arranged the matching pattern pieces in horizontal rows to form a Christmas tree on the left side of an 11" x 11" white cardstock base.

I backed the cardstock with an 11 1/4" x 11 1/4" black paper from the 12x12 Vintage Basics kit, then mounted both on a 12" x 12" plaid green paper.
For the photo, I chose a black and white picture and tucked it on the right side of the tree.
To create my title above the photo, I combined a sticker with a die-cut word.

Finally, I embellished the tree and the area around my photo with die cuts, labels, cardstock stickers and floral ephemera.

I hope this layout inspires you to try a paper-strip Christmas tree of your own! It's a great way to use up leftover patterned paper while showing off the whole collection. Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting!
