“A DAY TO SMILE” LAYOUT WITH TEA GARDEN COLLECTION

“A DAY TO SMILE” LAYOUT WITH TEA GARDEN COLLECTION

Hello crafters! Happy May! New month, new project! It’s Celes here @guiademanualidades, ready to create with you. From the very first moment I saw the Tea Garden collection, my mind started dreaming up ideas… I had the perfect photos - taken on the most beautiful day, during a warm afternoon in Spain, while doing a very special photo session that’s close to my heart.  I knew right away that a layout would be the perfect way to bring those memories to life, filled with soft textures, sweet details, and a delicate color palette. And today, I’m so excited to share it with you in my new blog post for Simple Stories.

This collection offers such a lovely variety of elements - perfect for layering and building a joyful, colorful composition that turns this memory into something truly special. And I couldn’t go without mentioning the Stitched and Dots Scallop Borders Die from Spellbinders + Simple Stories… it was just what I needed to make my photo stand out even more! Shall we get started?

Layout Base:
- I used the pink 12x12 gingham paper as the base for my composition.
- Then, I took a textured white cardstock, trimmed 1/2" from each side, and cut an 8" diameter circle in the center.
- I used yellow gingham paper and aqua polka-dotted paper. I cut a centered circle of 7" and 7 1/2", respectively.
- Both of the previous pieces are stuck behind the white cardstock piece with 3D foam (make sure it’s not too thick) to create dimension.
- The final layer, which is the center of the whole piece, is the photograph. I printed it in black and white.
- Once all these pieces are assembled, you can add a stitching detail along the edge (white cardstock).
- All of this will be placed on top of the base paper for my layout (also with 3D foam).

Decorative details bring everything to life! For this project, I chose a lovely mix of embellishments from the collection to add texture and color—while still letting the photo remain the true star of the page.

Decorative details:
- I used the striped paper to die-cut pieces using the scalloped border die. I added an Apricot paper to complete my color palette.
- With all the die-cut pieces, I individually cut each scallop. Then, I began gluing them around the edge of the circle on the white cardstock. I alternated all the colors.
- With the previous step complete, we can start playing with all the embellishments! I’ve planned two focal points: a) one in the top left corner and b) one across the base of the circumference, with a total width of approximately 10 1/2”.
- Both compositions are layered, and I’ve combined elements from the sets of chipboard stickers, foam stickers, brads, floral bits and pieces + bits and pieces + journal bits and pieces.

And that’s a wrap! I truly hope you enjoyed this idea and that it sparked some inspiration to create your own take on this layout. Thanks so much for joining me today - can’t wait to see you again soon! Big hugs, Celes.
